2023 Whilton Mill Kart Club * RACE WIN * – July 2023

8 weeks since she badly broke her wrist during practise for Round 4 – Katie made her racing comeback this weekend.
With no expectations of what she may be able to manage, we just hoped she would enjoy herself and be happy to be back on track.
A very wet Saturday practise and topping the grids out of 26, including the Rotax Inters, on a mixed class grid, all boded well for TQ.
- TQ – P2 including Rotax
Race day – after torrential rain overnight, it was a nice warm, sunny day – with the odd tiny shower. - Heat 1 – P3
A messy start across both classes on track, with a bit of hindrance from the back markers. - Heat 2 – DNF
Made some positive tweeks was ready to push again – got as far as turn 2, before her engine cut out and wouldn’t start - FINAL P1
Starting last, because of the DNF, we were hoping she might make up some ground, but there were no guarantees, especially with this weekends strong grid, and progress through the field was quite a challenge.
With about 3 laps to go Katie had made her way to P2 and just needed to hold back the attacking pack to the line…..then on the last lap disaster struck for the lead kart and Katie and the rest of the field came storming past to take the win - Fastest lap and fastest sector 3
Absolutely amazing to see her back on track and on top form, she’s worked so hard this week to get herself up to speed and race fit. So so proud.
